This digital design space ensures a perfectly crafted aftermarket intake with an exacting installation that exceeds even the factory fit.
IE’s signature velocity stack is built-in to the heat shield and effectively channels the massive amount of airflow from the 5″ air filter’s surface area smoothly to the throttle body. This results in incredibly low amounts of power-robbing drag and turbulence. This is a function only achieved by the efficient bellmouth shape and not found on traditional “filter on a stick” cold air intakes. The aluminum heat shield spans the entire length of the front clip, taking advantage of the huge stock grill. This design protects the intake from hot engine bay air while effectively channeling high-pressure air through the grill directly to the engine.
The unique growl of the VR6 engine was an instant enthusiast favorite after the debut in 1991. Sadly, the modern stock airboxes are a plastic compromise resulting in flow-killing restrictions and entirely muted engine notes.
